Welcome to Strong Mutha, Worthing's local fitness and community for mums and babies. Founded by Lou Carlo in 2020, Strong Mutha is not just a fitness group; it's a supportive, empowering, and energetic community that celebrates the strength of motherhood.


About Us:

At Strong Mutha, we understand that the journey of motherhood is unique and transformative. Our mission is to create a space where mums can prioritise their health and well-being while bonding with their little ones. We believe that being a strong mother goes beyond physical strength – it's about mental resilience, support, and shared experiences.


Founder's Vision:

Lou, a mum of two young girls herself, envisioned a space where mums could come together, rebuild strength & fitness safely, and share the joys and challenges of motherhood. With a background in personal training spanning over a decade,  including in one of Brighton's top gyms, and a deep understanding of the postpartum journey, she established Strong Mutha to provide a nurturing, safe environment for mothers to prioritize self-care through their health and fitness.

Our fitness sessions are designed with new mums in mind, combining effective workouts in a baby/child friendly environment. From progressive strength training to HIIT classes, each class caters to various fitness levels and allows mums to engage in a supportive community while bonding with their little ones.

Community and Support
Strong Mutha is more than a fitness group; it's a tight-knit community. Mums come together to share their experiences, offer support, and many of our mums build lasting friendships, doing annual drinks, sea swims, playdates and of course, coffee dates after every Friday morning class

Empowerment and Self-Care
Through our sessions, we aim to empower mums to prioritize self-care, embrace their strength, and foster a positive mindset in what can sometimes be a turbulent time as a sleep deprived new mum. As mums care for themselves, they, in turn, create a healthier and happier environment for their families.

Welcome to our Postnatal Bodyweight HIIT Class, designed exclusively for mums seeking a dynamic fitness session where they can bring their babies along for the journey. At Strong Mutha, we believe in empowering mothers to prioritize their health and well-being, with the ability to bring their babies or children so that there is no need to worry about childcare.

Class Format:
Our Postnatal Bodyweight HIIT Class is a high-energy, low impact, 45-minute session that combines elements of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) with bodyweight exercises tailored for postpartum fitness. The class is expertly crafted to address the unique needs of new mums, focusing on rebuilding strength, improving cardiovascular health, and promoting overall well-being. You are welcome to go at your own pace, and feel free to stop when you need to, give baby a cuddle or breastfeed/ feed whenever you need to.

Our Friday class runs in an enclosed space within Tarring Park, so that little walkers can't escape! At Strong Mutha, we aim to give a range of classes and feel that an outside class in the fresh air, surrounded by open space is a wonderful option to have.

This class is a high-energy, low impact, 45-minute session that combines elements of bodyweight training with strength & resistance exercises, tailored for postpartum fitness.

Since starting my postpartum journey at 7weeks, Lou @ Strong Mutha has helped me to become a strong, fit and happy mum who feels put back together again!


Not only do we exercise and have a laugh but we all enjoy a well-earned coffee and natter after. Being able to exercise with Huxley in a relaxed and baby friendly environment is hard to come by, especially one where you can let your baby roam free and cause a bit of chaos!


Not only have I been able to exercise but I have also made great friends too.

Mums Only! Evening Bootcamp
Wednesdays 7pm @ Offington Methodist Church 

This is our exclusive, mums only bootcamp, running either indoors at Offington Methodist Church in the colder months, and outside on our beautiful beach during the summer! This class is a more intense class and aimed more at women who are further into their postpartum fitness journey, we ask that you are at least 6 months postpartum to attend. 

Class format
Our mums only evening session brings together the best of both worlds – strength training and cardio – in a high-energy, results-driven session that will leave you feeling empowered, energised, and stronger than ever. This class, as always will have options for your specific postnatal needs, but without little ones for distraction, this class takes things up a notch and focuses solely on your fitness. 

Please Note - The evening classes are seasonal, running inside at Offington Church during the colder months, and outside on the beach at Goring Gap, and making the most of our beautiful beach for some evening classes at sunset, and if the tide is right, we finish off with a cooling dip in the sea- perfect on a summer evening.

All of these sessions are designed for mums who are 6 weeks postpartum, or 12 weeks for those who had a C-Section. 

We ask that you have been given the OK by a health professional, and that you feel ready to go yourself! Recovery from birth isn't alway linear; there's no pressure to return until YOU are ready. All exercise at Strong Mutha is based on low impact exercises, and please inform the instructor should you have any underlying health issues so we can adapt and work safely around you.

Babies and children are the parent's responsibility during all classes. 

Should you be suffering from pelvic floor issues, DO NOT STRUGGLE THROUGH- it is important that you seek assistance, please ask instructors for recommendations. 


A bit about me, and how I came to start Strong Mutha...

I’m Lou, personal trainer specialising in Pre & Postnatal Fitness and Mutha to two little girls (who at one point were two under 2, thank god that part has passed)

Having worked as a personal trainer in a top central Brighton gym for a few years, and running bootcamps, I soon felt that working with women in order to make them feel empowered and confident using weights was the path I wanted to take. With a few clients that were looking to get pregnant at some point, I decided that studying the Pre & Post Natal qualification would be imperative in order to guide them through exercising safely through the trimesters, and to gently ease them into post natal exercise, often with baby in tow. 

Fast forward a quick career break, two pregnancies and two house moves, enter Strong Mutha!

Lou is lovely, motivating, very down to earth and personable. There is always a variety of exercises, and adaptions for different levels.
